My fascination with walls continue.
The Yucatecos, and I suppose Mexicans in general, but in this instance and in this town it is the Yucatecos, tend to use the simplest methods to decorate their buildings and homes. Whether it’s just a simple combination of vibrant colors on a wall, or as in this instance, using texture as a decoration, it’s obvious to the observer that these folks care about how their community looks.
This plastered wall was decorated with chips of either stones, or plaster, pushed into the not yet dry wall. Then it was painted a teal green. Instead of using multi color paint combinations for decoration (paint is expensive in Mexico) the decoration was simplified to texture.
